Hang this chime in the house or in the garden where it will catch the breeze. Bamboo chimes are great in the garden where they make a mild, muted resonant sound which seems more natural and less intrusive than metal chimes – it can be deeply soothing in fact and not at all annoying as some chimes can be.

Bamboo is an easily renewable grass which can play an important part in tackling climate change. As a raw material it is excellent both for environmental and economic sustainability in rural areas. It takes up little space, grows to maturity in under 5 years, and can be harvested regularly. Bamboo grows freely in the woods and empty spaces close to our producer’s workshop. This is in a village near Ubud, Bali; they already live a sustainable lifestyle, growing their rice and other crops close by, and the sale of windchimes allows them to maintain the long-term sustainability of their community.
